Hiring a Marquee.

Some people think hiring a marquee for the first time can be a daunting experience. We can assure you it isn’t.

This article runs you through hiring a marquee in Hampshire for your Wedding, Corporate event or party.

Alresford Marquees  Hampshire make the process of hiring a marquee as easy as possible.  Our aim is to take any stress and strain away from you so you and your family can enjoy the day knowing you are in the best possible hands.

1: Call Alresford Marquees Hampshire and speak to either John or Oli who are the owners of the business, they will then arrange a time to come out to see you at your house or venue.

QUESTION: Why not just ask Alresford Marquees Hampshire to send me a quote without coming to see me?

ANSWER: If you prefer us to just send you a blind quote we can but we prefer to come and see you to discuss any ideas you may have and measure up the garden so we can send you a detailed and personal quote for your marquee.

2: Either John or Oli will come out to see you at your house or venue for the marquee, they will then measure up your garden to see what shape or size of marquee will best suit your garden. Alresford Marquees Hampshire have different styles of marquees so you will shown the various options of either the more traditional shape marquees with the centre poles or the more modern clear span marquee. QUESTION: What is the difference between a traditional marquee and a clear span marquee?

ANSWER: Our traditional marquees are a modern take on the old style canvas marquee. They have an elegant sweeping roof line which gives a fantastic first impression. The marquee has poles down the centre of the marquee which look great when decorated with flowers and some lighting. The traditional marquee has guy ropes around the outside so it takes up more space than a clear span marquee.

The clear span marquees can be built on any surface and can be built to fit most shaped gardens making it very versatile. The clear span marquees also have the advantage of not having any guy ropes which can take up allot more room. These marquees can also have clear roof panels and clear gable ends to them which can look amazing with some lighting.

3: Once you have chosen the shape and style of the marquee you will be shown some photo albums of past marquees to give you some ideas as to the interior design and layout. You can choose from a range of linings and lighting to get the right look and feel for your event. You will also be shown a range of furniture, flooring, marquee windows and dance floors. Once you have decided on these items John or Oli will go back to the office and put together a detailed quotation and scale plan of the marquee.

QUESTION: I would like to accept the quotation from Alresford Marquees Hampshire but what do I do next?

ANSWER: Either call one of the team in the office or return a signed copy of the quotation together with a deposit of £250. This will secure your booking .You will then be contacted by one of the team and sent your order confirmation. This means you now have a confirmed booking for a marquee for your event.

QUESTION: Once I have a booking can I still change items on my quote?

ANSWER: Yes you can still change any items of your quote and this is quite normal as your guest numbers will go up and down as you get closer to your event.

4: One of the team will always be on the end of the phone or email so please ask any questions and queries you may have in the build up to your event. John or Oli will call you a couple of weeks before your event to organise the timings of putting up the marquee and to get your final furniture numbers as these can often change as the replies from guests come in .

5: Alresford Marquees Hampshire will arrive at the arranged time to start the marquee. The friendly and professional staff will normally take a day to complete the marquee but larger jobs may take longer. During the erection of the marquee you will be asked to come and check positions of windows, exits and entrances and to get final positions on dance floors and furniture.

You will then be given a full run through of how to turn on lighting, heating and generators but this will be done by the caterers or a staff member on the day of the event leaving you to enjoy the day with your friends and family.

6 People always ask us if the lawn will be damaged, simply the marquee can stay in place for 2 weeks before the grass suffers. In many cases it actually kills off some of the weeds.
